Smoky Mountain Christmas 2010

It's been snowing since last night and more is on the way! So I thought I would share some photos of Christmas in our little mountain cottage!

Brrr...it's cold outside, let's go in and warm up!

Our tree is decorated with ornaments I have collected from around the world combined with some the children and friends have made along with some bought at different shops here and there.

These glass musical ornaments are some of my favorites I bought in Germany. Yes, I know this one is  hanging backwards!

Now over to the sideboard... I wanted to keep the silver tea service out, so I just added some greenery and an arrangement in a silver ice bucket placed in a silver chafing dish.

I needed an end table, so we took an outdoor iron mesh-top table, and my husband made a top from reclaimed pine. I did the staining and finishing, and I loved it so much I'm looking for more wood! I'll show it up close in a later post.

Santa's plate and cup are ready for cookies and milk! I bet the "sheriff" moved that cup to the other side!

I usually do a really tall arrangement of fresh greenery, but I have to teach voice students at the piano, so I "downsized" a little so I can see them as I accompany them.

Here's a peak at this week's tablescape...

Turn around, and we're in the kitchen!

Yes, I know there is tile missing here! We had planned to redo the countertops in some kind of tile so we  never finished this one spot. Actually, we will probably reconfigure the island into a rectangle...someday!

I hope you enjoyed a peek at our cozy Christmas cottage! Looks like we will be here for a few days as schools are cancelled and the temp is going single digits tonight. Stay warm and enjoy the many blessings of the season:-)

  19. Anita, it could possibly be more beautiful! Your taste is wonderful and WARM. I loved everything from outside to inside and will be anxious to see more about the little table.

I might copy that. We need an extra table in the den.

  20. HI Anita! Your home is so lovely and cozy and festive. Who wouldn't want to be 'storm stayed' there. I love your outdoor pics and your veranda too. We've had an abundance of rain here in New Brunswick - some places got over 130 mm. and the temperatures were +15C (about 60F) yesterday. However, the cold is coming tonight and maybe we'll get snow for Christmas. Have a blessed Christmas!
