Apple Crisp

Perfect for a cold, fall day, here is my mom's Apple Crisp as promised!

8 Golden Delicious Apples
1 C Oatmeal
1 C Butter
1 C Flour
1 C Brown sugar
Lemon juice
1/2 C Sugar
1 Tsp Cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350.  Peel and slice apples. Mix sugar and cinnamon.  Layer apples in bottom of dish and sprinkle about half the cinnamon sugar mixture over top and drizzle with lemon juice. Repeat.

For topping mix together Oatmeal, Flour and Brown sugar. Cut in softened butter, and sprinkle on top. Bake at 350 for about 35-40 minutes or until bubbly.

This is probably my favorite apple dessert! Hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, you just can't beat it!

  2. Have you ever bought one? They are terrible... Homemade always for apple crisp! I put oatmeal in mine too... makes it more hardy and sometimes I give it to the grand kids for breakfast! Thanks for sharing your recipe!
    Have a wonderful week end!

  4. This looks delicious!
I also loved seeing your tablescape. I used to have some of the brown drip glaze dishes. In fact, during the winter of 1961, I walked to town, one wintery snowy morning. This was about a 3 or 4 block walk, not too far. I came home with two large brown drip glaze bowls, carrying them very carefully over slippery snowy sidewalks. I'll never forget that day or those bowls, that made it home, without so much as a chip!

  6. I made an apple crisp last weekend. As I was looking for new recipes they all struck me as being really chincy with the topping. Yours is more up my alley with a good amount of "Crisp" on top.

  12. when I was at the nursing home visiting my MIL today the host on the food-network was doing an apple crisp. She used apple pie filling and then used to instant individual serving sized bags of raisin cinnamon oatmeal and then some butter (and probably sugar...but I can't remember!). But I hadn't heard of the instant raisin and cinnamon kind .

  13. "Yummy", Apples are one of the major food groups in my home... As I write this I'm looking out my window at a golden delicious apple tree FULL of those beauties... The unfortunate part is, I have so much wildlife here I hardly get to share the bounty... LOVE your blog and I'm exploring every corner of it... I would LOVE you to take a peek over at mine, I'm brand new and really need some followers to check in on my progress...
Thank you for this wonderful recipe...
